Literariness

First, Jim Booth has posted an excerpt or two from his forthcoming novel about being a rock star. Cool stuff. Go read it.

Then there’s this:

Siege

Exiles tendril through the outlands
banished of Eden
tearing their hands
on the walls of Heaven’s City

She is Sodom and Babel and Jericho and New York

her streets aflame with vestal song
her priests gorged on boyfruit
her whores drunk and apostolic
infected by the tongues of saints

Her walls ringed by small fires
by eye-sparks coupling and reptilian
by barbarian tribes grinding their teeth into swords

She is angelflesh bound ripe unto the marriage bed
the rape and phoenix of final days

All we were and ever will be
now summoned, and we are

Riders of the Fall, ecstatic,
our whips oiled in the fat of leisure years

raining hellfire on New Jerusalem…
