The BS BCS fails again
So last night’s 55-19 thumping of Choklahoma eliminates all doubt, huh? Sez ESPN: “There will be no sharing No. 1 this year. USC made an outright statement in Tuesday night’s BCS title game…” (Story)
Ummm, bullshit. What last night’s game proved was that USC is a whole lot better than OU. What it didn’t prove is how they stack up against Auburn, which made an undefeated run through the toughest conference in the nation this year. I don’t know who’d win an Auburn-USC showdown – and nobody else does, either. You have to actually play the game to find out. But I’d bet my next paycheck that USC (a damned good team, to be sure) wouldn’t hang 55 on that Auburn D.
It’s a corrupt, stupid “system” that’s designed to not to create a real champion but to give as many coaches as possible some positive talking points for the boosters (“hey, you can’t fire me, we won a bowl game!”) The system failed again this year because Auburn doesn’t even get to play for the title. You go unbeaten in a premier league, you should get a chance to take your shot at the trophy. If you check back I think you’ll see that it’s failed four of the last five years, or something like that. It’s going to keep failing, too.
Here’s hoping the AP voters send a parting shot to the BS BCS on the way out the door by making Auburn #1.
