Deacon Notes, 1.23

1. Hmmm. Let’s see.

  • Guard the perimeter.
  • Pound it inside to the big guy that nobody on the other team can stop.
  • Don’t feel a need to force three-pointers.

Result: Wake Forest 74, Cincinnati 70.

2. On a side note, how ’bout that Wake non-conference schedule? It’s not enough that playing the basic ACC schedule this season would automatically give you one of the tougher strength-of-opposition ratings in D1, but let’s review Wake’s outside adventures: GW, Providence, and Zona in the NIT; at Illinois; home to a Richmond squad that’s never a pushover; at Temple; Texas; at New Mexico (one of the roughest places in the country to play); and at Cincy. As it stands right now, Wake is 4-1 against Top 25 competition, while nobody else in D1 has even played five Top 25 teams. You got to respect Prosser – win, lose, or draw, he’s not ducking anybody….

3. Wait – the Hokies beat GT? At GT? Damn – that’s worse than my Deacs gakking on the road at FSU, I guess.

4. Of course, guess where Wake’s next game is? Uh-huh – in Atlanta. Wonder if they’ll be motivated? Better yet – I wonder which Deacs team will show up?

Fingers crossed….
