IdiotCop 1.0
In a comment on the “To a friend, whom I have lately encouraged to blog” thread yesterday, I noted that: A study a couple years ago demonstrated that stupid people don’t know they’re stupid.”
fikshun then replied: “this is the digital world. there is no noise. there are only idiots who scream loud enough to turn the zeroes into ones and geniuses quiet enough to let their ones become zeroes. we don’t need better content. we need better dithering filters.”
Which got me thinking. Whoever develops an app that can detect and auto-delete stupidity (kinda like a spam filter) is bound to make… err, like dozens of dollars?
I mean, how bad would the blow-up on that product launch be?
- An idiot who doesn’t know he’s an idiot installs a stupidity filter – let’s call it IdiotCop 1.0 – on his computer.
- It immediately deletes all his e-mail and erases his hard drive.
- If it’s AI-driven, it then starts plotting ways to kill him.
Jeez, this is what happens to my mind here at the end of a semester….

I think I’ll go write a short story based on the AI version and become famous.
*yoink*
*runs away*
At least send me a check for the idea once you’re rich and famous.
