England wins scoreless draw

Some thoughts on England’s victory over Paraguay:

1: England is lucky. Paraguay didn’t mount much of a challenge, but neither did Sven’s boys.

2: England looked less like a team than it did 11 individual superstars. There was no connection at all, despite the fact that they have all kinds of real creators on the pitch.

3: Peter Crouch (pictured here with strike-mate Michael Owen) is easily one of the tallest soccer players in Special Olympics history. You’d think a 6’7″ guy would be more of a threat in the air simply by accident. And any time he makes a move without snapping off a leg I feel like he’s been successful.
