US 285, South Park, Colorado – Alternate Take

On the previous post Dawn and Andy Beel had some interesting advice for cropping the image. I did it that way originally because my goal as a shooter is to some day match Andreas Feininger’s epic Route 66, Arizona high-sky masterpiece. Probably I’m not there yet. So here’s their suggested crop. I like it.

I’m glad you liked the result, I do too. That big center cloud really sweeps through the gap in the mountains. Andy was absolutely right about the crop.
I wish there was more definition in the rest of the sky, though. There were lower clouds that really popped, but there’s also the amorphous grayness of the other clouds. Still, you shoot what’s there, don’t you?
Thanks for the support and advice.
You’ve wanted to do this for a long time – your work should be celebrated.
You’re too kind. Yeah, I have been sitting around for years admiring the hell out of what all my talented photographer friends were doing and wishing I could do it too.
I may not be Ansel Adams, but I’m having fun. 🙂
Excellent. Even Greg (or both Gregs) would like it.
Thanks. I suspect this won’t be the last time I take a camera to South Park.
