Evanescence, Wal*Mart, F-Bombs – send lawyers guns and money…..

So, Wal*Mart is being sued because it sold Evanescence CDs that contained the word “fuck.” Priceless. I’m all in favor of the radical right turning on companies like Wal*Mart for reasons that are obvious enough to anybody who reads the Pit.

But what’s best about this story is that Evanescence, the potty-mouth band in question, is pretty much a Christian band. If I had to label, I’d call them Christian Goth-Pop – Fallen is an incredibly “faith-based” bit of rock, but in order to figure that out you’d have to be smart enough to read past the F-Bomb to the actual message in the lyrics, I suppose….

  • Fucking thin-skinned whiners.

  • i must say i agree with suing wal-mart. its not the profanity that makes the lawsuit acceptable, but the shit band. how dare such a powerhouse company sell such garbage.

  • Did you see them on the Billboard music award show? First of all, that show completely and utterly sucked, but tere was no question that Evanescence was playing live. Wow! That was the worst performance I have ever seen from a band that was televised. They were out of key, off time, all kinds of stuff. It was awful.
And yeah, the whole Walmart thing is just stupid too. But, there’s few things anymore that happen in the news that doesn’t make me think of stupidity.

  • wow. i’m getting good. i KNEW there was a reason i just couldn’t stand them. 😉 oh, wait. that’s because they’re so formulaic, you can still see the seams of their construction. damn reanimated music industry.

  • They really are, aren’t they. I noticed that the first time I heard the CD. Almost every song follows “the pattern.”

  • “The Skeens’ lawyer, Jon D. Pels of Bethesda, said he aims to “take this case national, even if that means going state by state.””
Now the torts are going after the music industry.
Can you say “music insurance policy”?
I read “King of Torts” last week.
    I don’t like lawyers anymore.

  • ummm
