The road not traveled
I was watching football Sunday and got to thinking, as I sometimes do, about choices I made in life and how things might have been different had I followed one path instead of another. For instance, what if I had thrown myself into the pursuit of football with as much fervor as I did academics? I had plenty of size to be a defensive back, and was faster than most offensive linemen. My throwing arm was a lot better than that of your average linebacker, and I had considerably more smarts than most defensive linemen. Finally, the level of respect I had for the game far surpassed what you find with most of today’s elite wide receivers.
And I threw it all away to be a brainiac debater. [sigh] So close, yet so far away….

At least you still have your knees.
Aloha,

And this is my GOOD knee.

And this is my GOOD knee.
I had my knee scoped once, and realize it’s better than the operations they used to do to my friends in the 70’s where they’d get a 6″ scar and be off their feet for 6 weeks.

Yeah, I had the other knee scoped to clean some stuff out. But that big reconstruct sucked. A LOT better than my buddy who had the same basic surgery in the mid-70s, as you say. 7 months in a body cast…
