IMO, it’s always helpful to laugh at yourself. When you lose that ability, that’s when you know you’re taking things too seriously and it’s time to take a step back and chill out a little.
There are absurdities in everything.

I remember when George Herbert Walker Bush befriended Dana Carvey after seeing his impressions of him on SNL. He reported that he laughed his ass off after seeing Dana’s act, called him up and invited him to the White House. GHWB is a class act.
