30-Day Song Challenge, day 26: a song that I can play on an instrument
I don’t play an instrument anymore, but when I was a kid I took several years of piano and I was in the band in junior high and high school. For some reason, our band director, Mr. Mauney, loved Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4,” so trust me when I tell you, we could rock that sucker.
This video is especially cool since it was all shot at Caribou Ranch up near Nederland, CO. Rocky Mountain High, Saturday Morning – have a nice one, yo.
By the way, the Ledford High School Marching Panthers also played the hell out of “Sweet Caroline.” Go Red Sox.

Fun for the brass, once you get adjusted to the 7/8 time with regular switches to another time (I think it’s 6/8, but it’s been a while since I saw a score so I’m not sure).
Two years ago my only possible answer would have been “I Dropped My Dolly In the Dirt” played on the black keys of a piano. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObpCVEn4q1g But, then I started learning guitar and have about a dozen songs I can play after almost two years. But, I have a lot of fun. Amazing Grace, Red River Valley, Wayfaring Stranger, House of the Rising Sun, and stuff like that.
Fwiw, this just happens to be one of the nastiest songs to play on Rock Band 3. I have yet to beat it on the expert setting. Clearly, the game developers acknowledge the skill involved in its creation.
I’ve been thinking for years it’d be fun to go out to the old property at Caribou and listen to recordings of its output. Maybe around the 4th of July? Who’s in?
