You may have heard that the NBA, in an attempt to wring every last dollar from you, is going to experiment with “nickname jerseys.” That is, instead of players having their names on the back of their shirts – Kevin Garnett has “Garnett,” for instance – they’ll have their nicknames. So Garnett, we’d expect, will be “Big Ticket.”
Spike Lee leaked a pic of the jersey Ray Allen will wear. He played Jesus Shuttlesworth in Lee’s He Got Game, and that’s the route he’s going here.
Scholars & Rogues has obtained an exclusive shot of the jersey Allen’s teammate, LeBron James, will wear. Surprisingly, it’s not “King James.”
Yes, boys and girls, this has been done before, and now the NBA is taking its cues from Vince McMahon and the XFL. Up next: Tony Siragusa’s fat ass harasses coaches at halftime and the champions win a million dollars!

If that really is what is jersey will say, it’s actually a clever dig at the management for their cheap ploy to wring out more jersey sales. “Yes, NBA. You’ve gone full XFL. You never go full XFL.”
