Couric move all but certain

By Peter Johnson, USA TODAYOne of the longest guessing games in TV news — whether NBC Today star Katie Couric will leave to join The CBS Evening News as the first solo female network news anchor — appears to have been resolved.
Couric and CBS have tentatively reached a deal that could be announced any day now, but probably by the end of the week, two sources close to the negotiations said Monday.
The deal calls for Couric — arguably the biggest star in network news — to anchor the third-place Evening News, contribute to newsmagazine 60 Minutes and have some yet-to-be-announced prime-time role, possibly producing specials, the sources said. (Story.)
The dumbest girl in the whole sorority will be sitting in Cronkite’s old chair. In related news, Jessica Simpson will be taking over R&D at NASA and Rush Limbaugh has signed a multi-million dollar deal to play shooting guard for the Lakers.
It’s a sad, dark day. I guess if there’s any good in this at all it’s that the charade is now officially, irrevocably over. The networks are no longer even pretending that their newspeople need to be smarter than lint. And why should they – our politicians have stopped pretending that it matters if they tell the truth, and CBS can hardly be blamed for taking notes, can it?

Just remember that whenever polls are taken, a suprising number of people can’t name who the president and vice president. A plurality of folks can’t name their local representatives and both state senators. People are that ill informed, CBS is stupid.
CBS lost all of my respect when Rather took his shot during the last election cycle. Couric………..I don’t even want to go into that.
