GolfDigest.comGreg Johnston, who has caddied for Michelle Wie since she turned professional last October, was fired the day after the 16-year-old phenom finished T-26 in the Weetabix Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes, GolfDigest.com has learned. (Story.)
Uh-huh. That’s it. You’re rapidly developing into one of the more legendary choke artists in sports, gakking down the stretch of every tournament you’re in. Caddie’s a genius for 65 holes or so and then turns into a drooling loon. Gotta be the caddie.
I mean, it couldn’t possibly be the fact that you’ve never learned to win at any level. Couldn’t be that instead of mastering the art of closing, of finishing, you and your braintrust have you galavanting all over the globe using sponsor exemptions to miss the cut against the men. Couldn’t be that you’re career is aimed at becoming a spectacle instead of a champion.
Nah. Gotta be the caddie.
