Hidin’ behind a rainbow’s wall: 30-Day Song Challenge, the Sequel, day 8 – a song you love from the ’60

I know I threatened yesterday to play some more Sam Cooke for my 1960s entry, but I’m trying to spread the love around and prop as many great artists as I can, so how about some Van Morrison instead?

Good night! So many to choose from: R&B, psychedelia, surf guitar, British Invasion…

Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin at Monterey Pop. When I first saw this I was blown away! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItLi2rVaIzo

There are just too, too many to choose from. This was my decade. But here’s an old chestnut from Buffalo Springfield, one of my favorite bands, who now sound like crap, but who cares:

    Hey, Jim–there’s Richie Furay!

Buffalo Springfield, “For What It’s Worth.”

If you’ve never seen the Muppet Show version, I recommend that as well. Hensen and crew showed how universal the song could be.
