It’s First Friday, America – get out and celebrate the arts

All across the country people will be celebrating First Friday tonight. Here in Denver that means art walks, the most famous of which is in the Santa Fe Arts District. The RiNo district is building a nice event, as well, and as I mentioned last month, I’m now in on the ground floor of a new FF movement in Olde Town Arvada.

March’s grand opening at the Light Rail Gallery was a big success, and hopefully tonight will be even better. With three or four new galleries slated to open in the next couple of months, the OTA downtown ought to be absolutely rocking by summer. Quietly, I think Olde Town is becoming one of the cooler things around Denver that people don’t know about yet.

Here at S&R we love the arts, and we encourage you to get out tonight, visit some galleries, talk with some artists, and maybe even take something home with you. If you’re in the 5280, you’re invited to stop by and see me (and one of our good friends, Greg Thow, he of Denver Digital Photography and Lens Mafia fame). The shot below is one of his, and if you’re thinking damn, he’s good, yes he is. So are a lot of other people in the gallery with us.

Happy Friday, and enjoy the art walk….

  • I’m gobsmacked at where you’ve taken this picture. Interesting. You could put together a whole show just based on this one photo. Not much of a glitter fan, but this is fantastic. Sinister. Waiting to predate.
