What you need to know about Bernie Sanders and mainstream media in one Washington Post headline
This is what passes for reason inside the muted corridors of serious establishment “journalism.”
Flipping through the morning’s news and I came across this:
I really know dick about Collum Borchers (or the editors who write his headlines), but a quick look at his archive page suggests a faint whiff of Beltway/Village wankery. I mean, on the one hand there’s this:
Before endorsing Donald Trump, the New York Post mocked him on cover after cover
Perhaps the endorsement was a way of saying thank you for all the material.
And this:
Corey Lewandowski’s interview with Sean Hannity was a total joke
Too few tough questions. Too many false statements.
And this:
So Hillary Clinton wants debate moderators to ask about abortion, all of a sudden?
She doesn’t really want to discuss details.
But then you get this:
Michelle Fields is veering off the high road by dissing Greta Van Susteren
Because Breitbart “reporters” are all about the “high road”?
Anyhow, back to the Bernie headline. And yes, this is archetypally what progressives are talking about when they use terms like “corporate media.” Here’s why:
- He won what, eight of the last nine states? Sure, New York is a bigger deal than those eight primaries and caucuses were in terms of delegate count. But if eight of nine doesn’t make them take you seriously, that maybe tells you something important about the media. Just saying.
- Did I miss the part where the media took him seriously in the first place?
If the WaPo were being honest and transparent about things, their logo would feature a set of goalposts on wheels.
Agreed, but what kind of gadfly wouldn’t note:
“But if eight of nine doesn’t make them take you seriously, that maybe tells you something important about the media.”
It’s entirely possible eight of nine tells us something about the importance of primaries, or the lack thereof.
I didn’t say this was the ONLY problem.
it is quackery and both parties and almost all the politicians are guilty. they are all going to put soda pop in the drinking fountains. I am probably more left leaning then right, but unless I was positive about the candidates stand on the second amendment I would never vote democratic. your party at least I believe you are a died in the wool dem has chosen to try and get rid of guns. I know you only want registration, but history proves registration leads to confiscation. you can call me crazy, but when they translated the form you use to buy a gun, directly from German (it was the same document Hitler put into force before he collected the guns from the Jews) the US made it illegal to have a national registration. I guess I am not the only person to feel this way about registration. now Obama an Hillary have dropped their hiding the gun confiscation plan, I believe that the dems will lose some control. it does not matter to me I am an old man, they can come and kill me first to take my guns. I will not give them up. we are headed for the greatest depression this world has ever seen. the governments almost all of them have been living on credit (QE) for so long the damage is done, but they can not quit printing money. it will just make the adjustment that much worse when it happens. both parties are to blame but Obama just increased the debt by over double and counting. now there is about to be helicopter money, you know they drop it from the sky. so that is our monetary policy create more debt, ohhhh goody. then when there is a run on the banks how much more money will they print to cover the inability of the banks to live within their means. after the depression which I hope is coming soon to balance the economy, their just could be run a way inflation. the same goods and more money chasing them. are we having fun yet.
well when it gets really bad I want to be able to protect myself from those roving gangs looking for anything of value or food. their will be massive bankruptcies because of the drop in the inflated housing prices just like the last time. hell it only took 10 years for it to happen the last time while I was telling everyone the house prices were inflated. of course I was an idiot because everyone knows house prices only rise!! what is coming is very ugly and it can not be fixed. the damage is already done. the economy has to come back to where it is balanced. of course it will always over shoot that just like it does when it is on its way back up to neutral. the fun is I think about to start this year, but with the government spending helicopter money it might delay and make it worse. the politicians they are not stupid, they just expect us to be.
if anyone can show me anytime how prohibition has worked in the history of the world maybe I might consider giving up my guns, no I enjoy shooting to much. it is a great hobby. the only think you will do is take the guns from the honest citizens and make them more susceptible to the criminals. they do not follow the law. that is the definition of a criminal. more crimes are
stopped by gun carrying citizens then the criminals succeeding. you just do not hear the
statistics, because it does not help the anti-gun crowds position.
Ummm. I’m not sure you know what the words “left” and “right” mean. Nothing you have ever said in this space suggests that you’re left of anything.
MY party? Uhh, no. I despise the Democratic Party.
Here we go.
I know, I know, Obama has been coming for your guns for seven or eight years now. Hey Art, has ANY Democrat ever taken ANY of your guns> The guns of anyone you know? Or are you just another sucker for hysterical rhetoric on the part of the NRA? (Which by the way, doesn’t represent gun owners, it represents the arms industry.)
But hey, routine school shootings and terrorism are a small price to pay for the freedom of arms dealers, right?
Where did you hear this? NRA? Rush?
