In other words, US police are literally allowed to do things to non-violent citizens protesting peacefully that international law doesn’t allow in a full-out shooting war.

This doesn’t seem … right. And it’s easily fixed.

Joe Biden needs to announce immediately that his first act upon taking office will be to submit legislation to Congress requiring that police organizations in the US are bound by strictures of the Geneva Convention, and that if such a law isn’t on his desk awaiting his signature in 30 days he will issue an executive order of his own.
