Mitt Romney, Man of the People, unleashes his inner hillbilly
At a campaign stop in Mississippi, Mitt Romney declared hisself an “unofficial Southerner.”
After accepting Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant’s endorsement, Romney turned his attention to his bodyguard, Garrett Jackson — a Mississippi native — whom he credits for his transformation into an “unofficial Southerner.”
“He is now turning me into an, I don’t know, an unofficial Southerner,” Romney said. “And I’m learning to say ‘y’all’ and I like grits. Strange things are happening to me.”
Romney aides then tackled the GOP frontrunner, stuffed a sock into his mouth and dragged him off-stage before he could add that “I think I own a few grits plantations.”
So, progress. The Man of the People Tour 2012 rolls on…
So, I guess that means he’s either trying to up the ante for whatever back room deals go on with major party tickets, or he’s saying “Newt” doesn’t sound particularly vice-presidential? Not that Rick, Ron, or Sarah sound any better. They’d better just go bury this campaign out behind the aforementioned back room.
But will his wife let him cut eyeholes in her silk pillowcases?
